Prohibited & Restricted Items

TopBid is a venue: Sellers list their own items and we are not in the room when they do. This page is the list of things that may not be sold here, and what happens when they are. It forms part of the Terms of Service and is referenced by Section 10.

1. Never permitted

• Counterfeit or replica goods, or anything bearing a brand it is not. This includes "inspired by" and "dupe" listings of a protected mark.
• Stolen property, or goods you cannot show you have the right to sell.
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives and their component parts, including frames, receivers and 3D-printed parts.
• Illegal drugs, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
• Prescription medicines, medical devices requiring a prescription, and supplements making disease claims.
• Live animals, and products from protected or endangered species — including ivory, tortoiseshell and most coral.
• Human remains or bodily fluids.
• Recalled products, and items subject to an active safety recall anywhere they might ship.
• Sexually explicit material, and any material sexualising a minor. The second is reported to law enforcement, not merely removed.
• Hateful material — items promoting violence against, or hatred of, people by race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, disability or sexual orientation.
• Government IDs, uniforms, badges and official documents.
• Personal data, mailing lists, or account credentials.
• Lottery tickets, gambling entries and anything requiring a gaming licence to sell.

2. Permitted only with care

• Alcohol and tobacco — only where the Seller holds the required licence and can verify the buyer's age at delivery. Most Sellers cannot; assume it is not allowed unless you have confirmed it with us in writing.
• Knives and bladed tools — legal in most places, restricted in some. Sellers are responsible for the rules where the parcel is going.
• Autographed and collectible items — permitted, but authentication claims must be honest and you must say who did the authenticating.
• Digital items and services — permitted where your account is enabled for them. They settle differently from shipped goods, and the buyer protections in Section 8 assume a tracked delivery, so a digital sale releases on buyer confirmation or shortly after the auction closes instead.
• Hazardous materials — batteries, aerosols, flammables and anything the carrier classes as dangerous goods must be declared and packed to the carrier's rules. A label bought through TopBid does not cover undeclared hazardous goods.

3. What happens when a listing breaks these rules

• The auction is ended and the listing removed. Bidders are not charged.
• If a sale already completed, we may refund the Bidder in full and recover the amount from the Seller's held or future proceeds.
• Repeat or deliberate breaches end the account, and held proceeds may be withheld pending resolution of any resulting claim.
• Material involving a minor, or a credible threat to someone's safety, is reported to law enforcement. That is not discretionary and does not wait for an appeal.

4. Telling us about a listing

If you see something here that should not be, email support@topbid.live with the auction link. We would rather look at ten that turn out fine than miss one that does not.
